After series wins over the Yankees and Red Sox this week, the Tigers find themselves back in the Asshole Power Rankings Top 5. Their typical shaky starting pitching showed signs of turning things around with two shutouts against the Bronx Bombers and a 1-run gem today versus the Bo Sox. The same poor showing knocked New York out of our top spot this week, making way for the Rays to reclaim the throne. Meanwhile, the slumping White Sox find themselves back in the Bottom 5 after a bad series loss to lowly KC who fired their manager this week. The Sox are now batting a league-worst .230.

Bottom 5

27. Seattle 14-23 (.378) 3-7 in last 10, L 2
28. Kansas City 14-24 (.368) 3-7 in last 10, W 1
29. Houston 13-24 (.351) 4-6 in last 10, L 3
30. Baltimore 12-26 (.316) 5-5 in last 10, L 2
Where is Arizona? They are 15-23 and are 2-8 in their last 10 with a .395. I thought this was scientific? I believe there’s a mistake.
If something like strength of schedule was used, the Cubs would probably be 30.
I believe a correction needs to made. Arizona is 26.
This wouldn’t be any fun if it was truly scientific. Losing a series to KC after they just fired their manager put the Sox below the D-Bags.
You mean the most common occurrence in MLB, that the a team with a managerial change has a winning record in the first five games. 72.9 % of teams respond positively according to a study conducted by Journal of Sports Behavior.
You also told me during a phone conversation that it was going to be based on last 10 and record. If you’re including how teams played against weaker opponents than the Cubs should be ranked 30th.
Did you really just go “Journal of Sports Behavior” on me?
I like to be factual.
Don’t worry, the Cubs will be in the Bottom 5 soon enough
