It took until the last game of the week, but Smitty nabbed another win last night while taking a 4-2 beating from the White Sox. The series ended on high note at Wrigley and had to start make Sox fans believe in Gavin Floyd again as a pitcher with four of his last five outings going down as quality starts. In three of those four outings he’s allowed only one run. Seven straight Quality Starts for the Sox going into the Pittsburgh Pirates series.

The series could not have ended with a better game. Two no hitters taken into the seventh inning, and the overpaid Alfonso Soriano coming through with the key hit that led him scoring the winning run. Both pitchers deserved to win, but Cubs ace, Ted Lilly, ended up on the winning end of his one hitter.

The Sox/Cubs series picks up in two weeks at US Cellular Field when one team will take home the illustrious BP Cup. It’s kind of fitting that BP sponsored the award for this series since the Sox and Cubs are only second in disasters to BP this year.
