Rob Manfred is still trying to place the blame solely on COVID-19 for the limited 60-game season he stalled and stalled and then railroaded through at the owners’ behest. I’ve heard of revisionist history, but trying to change facts from less than three weeks ago is really pushing the envelope.
This is a clear admission that he and the owners were negotiating in bad faith all along, throwing out bullshit offers including a 72-game plan they had no intention of ever ratifying. That Manfred is stupid enough to now admit it is both hilarious and terrifying that someone of his limited capacity is responsible for ensuring the health and future of the game.
It’s becoming more clear by the day why the players turned down millions of dollars to retain their right to file a grievance against the owners — because they will win it.
